Open Question: Laptop recommendation for college student. URGENT!?

I'm entering college soon in two and a half months time and I really need a laptop quick. Its compulsory for me to have it as my school uses laptops instead of textbooks. So I will be doing a lot of work on it e.g. Power points, word, heavy internet browsing for research.. I am also looking for laptops with long battery life, big difficult disk space, slim and portable design and quick processor. Money is not a problem but will prefer cheaper laptops over overly priced ones. Thanks for your help! I also would like to have a laptop that does not overheat that fast

Open Question: What equipment do I need?

I'm planning on recording my covers of songs and putting it on Youtube, but I need help. I need a good HD camcorder (Price Range: £100 - £200) and a microphone good for recording vocals. Open Question: I'm a noob building a monster.. can you help me choose parts?

Hey guys I'm a bit of a complete noob to building computers but I work in CGI and my current Radeon HD 5600 and AMD Athlon II x4 630 aren't quite cutting it, so I'm building a real beast. Problem is I need a little help understanding where to even start with selecting a motherboard.. I think could pay anywhere between $100 to $1000 at a glance on ebay, so I have several questions in order of importance first. 1: Does the motherboard make much, if any, difference to the performance of the computer? Open Question: What makes some universities/colleges better than others?

Honestly, what makes some universities or colleges better than others? What makes them special? In the Philippines, UST, Ateneo, DLSU, and UP are considered "the best" but why are they the best? What do they use to determine test scores and rankings? Other schools in Manila are kinda ignored but those top 4 are put into the spotlight. I mean why pay high tuition at one school when you can be educated somewhere else for a cheaper price? Biggest difference, in my opinion, is the facilities and quality of the school. Some schools have awesome facilities and great classrooms but they are still not put into the spotlight as much.

Open Question: Bad experience at endodontics?

After the root canal, I was referred back to my dentist to receive a check up and crown preparation. They said arrive back in 2-4 weeks. I came in the 4th week and the lady seemed unprepared to talk and she doesn't even remember me (I've been there many times). I gave her the papers and then she told me that the build up and the crown would cost me $960. I told her Okay, but I already started the payment plan for the crown+root canal and why do I need a build-up? I was careful and ate on the other side for the 4 weeks. She denied saying that I did not pay and panicked when I persisted. She then called the endodontics, they told her the info she needed. But even they said that I didn't pay for the crown. We got frustrated when she tried to end the conversation by telling us the prices again. I told them I will arrive back after talking with my dad. I came back home and checked the receipt. The bill was $1680 for ONE MOLAR ROOT CANAL. My dad and I were shocked at the cost and mad. We know the people said that the cost of a root canal PLUS the crown was going to be $1680 at consultation (and that wasn't cheap either) and that is what we expected. Over $2700.. seriously? What do you think of this?

Looking at buying a handgun soon for home defense but also for target shooting/Plinking, I found a Ruger p95 9mm that i was going to buy since you receive barely any recoil,cheaper ammo and larger magazines but i stumbled upon a 1911 clone that was at a decent price with quite a few good reviews and i know you can customize 1911's quite a bit more and the .45 caliber packs more of a punch so i would just like some peoples opinions that have experience with these gun's and which would be better for home defense/target shooting thank you.

Open Question: is ordering rims online a good idea?

I found these pretty good looking rims online. They arrive in a package totaling around a grand. They arrive with tires but the tires look nice of cheap. I'm paying almost that much for four of my tires, so this package is about the same price as if I got my tires replaced at the dealership. Keep in mind that if I go to a dealership I'm only getting tires, but if I order online I receive rims with tires. Has anyone ordered rims online before? I want to be sure before I shell out a grand for new rims and tires.

Open Question: what is a good restaurant in chicago to go to?

I want to take my girl to a nice restaurant in chicago. I want to go to a very nice restaurant. We live around Mchenry county and there isn't really any nice places around. I was thinking the rain forest cafe since they have good food and I like the scene in there but its nice of a cheaper place. I was also thinking the the signature room at the 95th the John Hancock middle but i don't know if for the prices on food there that there is any other places. Open Question: Can I refill Kodak Ink #30? if so how, and what ink? Where to find the best price?

I thought you could use any ink refill kit as long as you know the right place to drill the hole and put the ink in, but someone told me you can't. I have a Kodak ESP C310 Ink Cartridge #30 Supposed to keep me on ink, but I've NEVER had to replace it so often, it's adding up quick! I want to try the "XL" cartridges because I suppose that makes it cheaper over every. Any recommendations on where to find ink at a better cost? Refill or new cartridge? Heck, I'd even send my old ones out for a refill if that was the best deal... Open Question: Should I Mass Effect 3 right away or should I wait?

I just want your opinion. I'm way tardy to this series. I heard Mass Effect 3 is coming out on March 6th 2012. It looked awesome. And that same day my pal offered to sell me Mass Effect 1 for xbox 360 for $5.00. (this was 2 weeks ago) So i was like fuck yea that's a great deal. And it's a great game. So pretty much I haven't beaten Mass Effect 1 yet, & I don't have (or ever played) Mass Effect 2. So my ? is should I pre order and buy Mass Effect 3 right away, or should I beat Mass Effect 1, buy Mass Effect 2, then buy Mass Effect 3? Open Question: Petland Ft Myers sold Englsih Bulldogs last year, owner claims he's Purebred Champion Bloodline?

I have a cousin in law that bought an English Bulldog for a price of $3,100 but brought down the price to $2,800. She got him from Petland Ft Myers Florida last year in July or August. I asked her the name of the breeder but she refused to tell me but she gave me a receipt on her dog, it says Petland Ft Myers Fl and she confirmed that's where she got her dog. Anyways, she told me that her puppy is AKC Purebred with Champion Bloodline and that is why she paid so much for him and has intentions on breeding him! I know her dog came from a Puppy Mill and I would like to know if Petland really knows where they receive their puppies from? I would like to know how she was able to receive papers saying he is Champion Bloodline. She had papers saying he is AKC and Purebred Champion Bloodline, I would like to know how she was able to receive such papers. I found 3 reputable Breeders and their English Bulldogs are much cheaper than what she payed for and they are purebreds, champion lineage and AKC registered. She saw this cute pup, fell in adore with him, didn't do her homework on the dog and petstore and of course believed whatever the store associate told her! But I want to know if this particular petstore knows where they receive their animals and how she was able to receive him certified and if those documents/certificates are legit. I know you can register any dog in the AKC but Champion Bloodline? I appreciate every the answers and what I find very silly in every of this, my cousin in law was asked, what made her dog so special into why she payed so much for him, she could not answer it! I will be getting more information on her dog. I raised every different nice of dogs, cats and got them from breeders, or the humane society. Resolved Question: Question for breast feeding moms?

Did you use a manual breast pump or electric pump (if and when you needed to pump)? I had an electric pump with my previous baby, but they've gone up in price in the last 4 years. I'm considering a manual pump for this time around. I don't plan to have to pump that often at every, just when I need to. I don't work and I'll be exclusively breast feeding. But my husband expressed a desire to feed our new baby too (she's due in June). Do you have an recommendations as far as pumps go? Even the cheap end of electric pumps that are worth it are at least $60-80. ** The electric pump I had before with my previous baby I ended up giving to a pal when she had her baby. Olivia- If I could afford that, I would. But we can't afford a $300 pump. Not everyone is blessed with infinite finances. G8TR- Part of why I'd need a pump is because I make enough milk to feed two babies when I breast feed (literally). That's not just in the first few weeks, that was for the first year of breast feeding. I could easily pump out 8 oz of milk from both breasts together on top of feeding my baby 8 times a day. As for my husband, well I think it's important for him to be able to feed our baby at times as well if he desires to. He doesn't have mammary glands so when I pump every my excess milk he has the chance to feed our baby. Does Medela make a manual pump by chance?

Open Question: whats the best 50cc motorcross/supermoto styled bike?

i am turning 16 soon and i will need to receive myself a supermoto. at 16 in the uk by law you are only aloud a 50cc and the 2 strokes seem to be the better option. i have been looking at a rieju mrt 50 sm 2012 an aprilia rx 50 2012 and a yamaha dt 50 etc. i will be doing 15 miles a day to receive to my apprenticeships as well as traveling to collage and occasionaly use for going out on the bike fir fun aswell. the price is not an issue but my question is this what is reliability like i have a fair amount of mechanical knowledge and have owned 2 stroke quad bikes in the past and never let me down so theres a very high benchmark and maintenance will be done every weekend and i am using motul 2 stroke oil. aswell as this i have been applying for the rieju mrt at the local dealer so as much information as possible on this bike as this bike looks perfect for me 1) whats the most reliable supermoto bike 50cc only 2) whats going to be the cheapest insurance 3) which make is the best derbi, aprilia, rieju 4) fuel consumption ??? thankyou in advance for any information

Open Question: Buying tickets for the Chicago Blackhawks game?

The website says the cheapest tickets are $45, i am trying to buy 5 tickets, for cheapest price, doesnt matter where we sit just not standing room, but from stubhub or the nhl website, when i put quantity: 5, the cheapest ones i find are $77? What happened to the $45, can i receive it cheaper then $77? Seems too much for 300 lvl behind net on top...

Open Question: Used car + bike dealerships in west LA? (venice, santa monica)?

Planning ahead - but I like to research things well in advance In May 2013, I plan on heading to LA, living close Venice, on a 4 month J1 student work/travel visa from Ireland I'll be needing either a car or bike to receive around as work could be anywhere between Venice, Santa Monica or closer to West Hollywood Plus, I've full intentions of travelling around the National Parks of California and Utah, so a bike instead of a car makes a lot more sense I'd a good look around on ebay and craig's list, for both used cars and bikes but of the few cars priced below $2k a lot of it looks like complete junk and any bikes below $3k are every Moto X dirt bikes Similar situation with rental. Prices in the thousands for 3 month rental for either bike or car If I were to buy a car I'd go for someting basic and reliable like a Merc 190 or a Crown Vic, and in a bike the likes of an old Honda CB750 or Harley Sportster 883 Do any dealerships deal only in cheap used/ex hire/ex gov cars? Do any larger pawn shops buy and sell used cars? eg: - like I'd buy for $1000, and sell back at an agreed price of like $300 etc... 90 days later What motor insurance brokers deal with non standard customers? As it is, It's looking more sensible to boat my possess bike from Heathrow in London to LAX At least there would be less chance of it breaking down and leaving me stranded in the middle of death Valley :D

Resolved Question: Do you know of any self publishing cites?

For my girl scout gold award I am writing a story about a boy who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (specifically Aspergers) I was wondering if anyone knew any cheap self- publishing cites I could use. I need the name and cost of at least one for my proposal, which needs to be approved before I receive too far into my project (which I probably already have: wups) anyways the cites I found when I googled it wouldn't give me a price. I just want the name of a self publishing cite and a link or something to find out cost per book or something like that? Open Question: Which car is better for a college student: Toyota Camry or Honda Accord?

I am a junior in high school at the moment but I would like to know the car that I should be looking at getting while in college. I know that I want to have a car that I would be able to keep for a good amount of time. I would also like the compare them with prices. I would like to know which one is cheaper. Open Question: Would this question be annoying?

So I am doing a budget report for school.... and one of the questions asks for hobbies and well my hobbie is horseback riding :) Right now I am fifteen, and when I am 18 I will possess a horse in her barn. The thing is that its super expensive (My lessons are $75 dollars each, her cheapest horses go for $15,000 and I heard that the rent for one old horse who was in the olympics was like 1,500 a month) Its an A-circuit barn. The price just makes it nice of akward to ask how much it would cost per month and Im wondering if you would receive annoyed if one of your riding students asked how much money per month for a project when they weren't really getting a horse at the moment.....
